Can you tell I’m running out of blog ideas? Haha.
I made a lot of DIY bookmarks about a year ago….and well…they’re not bad though I’m probably going to throw a lot of them out because I just want simpler ones. A majority of my bookmarks are comprised of random quotes that I just wrote and lamented. Again, not butt ugly bookmarks, just basic ones.
Here are the ones I plan on keeping and the stories behind them:
Got these as part of a birthday present and they’re pretty good, sturdy place markers. Mines are from Barnes & Nobles and it was almost a year ago so I can’t remember the brand or anything like that, though you can find similar ones here. I have a pure blue one somewhere….but I have no idea where it is haha.
Notes From High School/Pictures
Blurred out the names and didn’t show the other side with their faces because of privacy, blah blah, you get it, though I thought the notes were nice and decided to laminate them for memories and such.
Marilyn Monroe Playing Cards
I love anything Marilyn so I originally bought these cards to actually use them as playing cards but…decided to use them for bookmarks instead. Not sure if I’m going to laminate them all together to make 2 large bookmarks or laminate them individually. This pack of two includes my lavender set as well as another, while this one is just one pack of Marilyn playing cards.
Maybe these are more common now, though my mom got my brother and I one when we were little and we thought we were the coolest for having a $2 bill haha. Still cool to keep, so I’m going to laminate it again and use it as a place marker. Here’s one layered and outlined in gold if you want something fancy, and here are the regular ones.
Painted Scenery Bookmarks
Got these off of Amazon a few months back because they were really cheap. Did I really need them? No, not really honestly but that was before I was taking the minimalism thing seriously. I believe these are the exact ones or very similar ones. Really love the art on them.
Collected these over the years. A few came from my grandma, while a few I either found in the library and STOLE (jk haha), or just were given during book fairs, things like that. I’m more spiritual rather than religious now, though they each remind me of good childhood moments. Similar Bible verse bookmarks can be found here.
Flower Power Bookmarks
These just have simple photographs of flowers. Planning to laminate them also. I believe I got these on Amazon too, but can’t remember exactly. Similar ones can be found here.
This isn’t one I bought, but one of the ones I made. It’s just a favorite photo of mine of Princess Diana cut out and laminated. When I type in “Princess Diana bookmarks” it only shows me Wonder Woman bookmarks haha though you don’t really need to buy a bookmark of your favorite celebrity. It’s as easy as having a mini laminating machine (could find one at Walmart too. I just have a small one), choosing what pictures you want, printing them out on the paper you want, and then laminating them with the special paper. Cool idea if you wanted a mini collage of photos too.
Another Amazon purchase. They were only $2 I think and I like this style and size because they fit easily into the laminating sheet. They can be found here. Each also comes with a Shakespeare quote on the back. A few include:
- “Eye of newt, and toe of frog, wool of bats and tongue of dog, adder’s fork, and blind-worm’s sting, lizard’s leg, and owlet’s wing – for a charm of powerful trouble, like a hell-broth boil and bubble.” (Macbeth)
- “Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears! I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.” (Julius Caesar)
- “Why, then the world’s mine oyster, Which I wish sword will open.” (The Merry Wives of Windsor)
- “Then, must you speak of one that lov’d not wisely but too well.” (Othello)
Metal Scorpio Place Marker
My most recent bookmark buy! My mom and I each got one of our astrology signs (not really a big believer in astrology but the bookmark was cool and small), about two weeks ago. They were only 50 cents too! Don’t know if they’re on the Half Price Books website (probably not because they were just sitting out so I think they just wanted to go ahead and get them sold), though here is a similar one for Scorpios. Anything can essentially be found on Amazon so there’s bound to be more for all the signs.
That’s it! Do you have a bookmark collection? Or do you just keep your place with random stuff? It would be cool to know.
